One of Water Wood's newest creations is the Willie, a shad-shaped crankbait that builds upon elements of some discontinued wooden staples. It's built to produce a wide wobble and meant to be fished in warming water.

When the bass change gears during the pre-spawn, and start aggressively feeding up, it produces an aggressive hydrostatic signature that calls them out. Think of it like a 5/8 or ¾ ounce spinnerbait will a big number 7 willow leaf or a large colorado blade. You can slow roll it over stumps and emerging grass.
Â
Â
Here in South Carolina, on lakes like Santee Cooper it excels over stumps and on lakes like Murray and Hartwell on red clay banks and points. It's also a killer bait in Florida or everywhere that has emerging grass.

The originals that it's inspired upon only came in a shallow diving version, but I've added a deeper diver, too, to add more range. With its construction of Marupá Pedra wood, it casts like a sinking model, but mine still floats, so you can crawl in through heavy cover effectively.
