Sell Us Your Guns
We buy used guns
Sell us one gun or an entire collection
Dance's Sporting Goods buys used firearms from individuals and families, including large collections and estates. When ammunition, reloading equipment, or coins come along with a group of firearms, we will take a look at those too. Bring in a smaller collection any time for a quote, or reach out to us about a large one.
If you are thinking about selling firearms, we are happy to take a look
Used firearms
Handguns, rifles, and shotguns, whether you have a single gun you no longer use or a safe full of them. Newer and older models, and guns in all kinds of condition.
Estates and large collections
Settling an estate or downsizing a collection? We can help you work through everything from one safe to many, and we will walk you through the process so it is not one more thing to worry about. For a large collection, we will travel to you.
Ammo, reloading gear, and coins
If these come along with a group of firearms or an estate, we will look at them too. Factory ammunition in original packaging, reloading presses and dies, and coin collections are all welcome as part of the lot. Please call before bringing powder or primers.

Handling the firearms in an estate
You do not have to sort it out alone
You do not need to know what everything is or what it is worth. Bring in what you have, or call us first and we will tell you how to approach it.
Paperwork
We may ask for documentation showing who has the legal authority to sell the items, such as the executor or administrator of the estate. Having it with you saves a second trip.
Transport safely
Firearms should be unloaded, and cased or boxed, when brought to the store. Please do not clean, repair, or modify anything beforehand.
Suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and machine guns
Items regulated under the National Firearms Act follow special federal rules for transfer, including after an owner's death. Please call us before moving or transporting any NFA item.
What to bring and what to expect
- Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. Sellers must be at least 18 years old.
- All purchases are completed in person. Smaller collections (about 12 firearms or fewer) can be brought to our store any time we are open. For a large collection, contact us first and we will set up a visit to you or a time for you to bring them in. All firearms must be unloaded, and in a case or box if you are bringing them in.
- As a licensed dealer, we record every firearm we acquire as required by federal law.
- We do not give offers or quotes online or over the phone, even from a detailed list or photos. Quotes are made in person after we inspect the items, based on each item's make, model, condition, and current demand.
- We may decline any item for any reason, including if we cannot confirm that it may be lawfully sold.
Common questions
Do I need an appointment?
Not for a smaller collection. If you have about 12 firearms or fewer, bring them in unloaded any time we are open (Monday to Friday 8 to 6, Saturday 10 to 4, closed Sunday) and we will give you a quote. For a large collection or an estate, please call (804) 526-8399 or send the form first so we can set up a time.
Will you come to me if I have a large collection?
Yes. For a large collection of firearms, contact us and we will set up a time to visit you, or a time for you to bring them in. You will still need a valid government-issued photo ID, and we complete the same paperwork as we would at the store.
Do you buy guns that did not come from your store?
Yes. It does not matter where you bought it.
How do you decide what to offer?
We look at the make and model, condition, whether it comes with its original box, accessories, or paperwork, and what is currently in demand. We will explain how we arrived at our number.
Can you give me a price over the phone or from a list or photos?
No. We do not give offers or quotes online or over the phone, even when you list everything out. Every quote is made in person after we have looked at the items.
Will you buy guns that are broken, rusty, or in rough shape?
Often, yes. Tell us about it and we will let you know if it is something we can use.
Do you buy ammunition, reloading supplies, or coins?
We look at these when they come along with a group of firearms or an estate, but not on their own. Please call before bringing powder, primers, or handloaded ammunition, because we handle those case by case.
What if I only want to transfer a gun I bought somewhere else?
That is a different service. See our FFL Transfers page.
